In the modern world, S&T is able to warn us of many natural disasters and also help us manage and mitigate their aftermath. However, we need the society to be educated
about disasters and their management. It is in this context that this book assumes its significance. It specifically addresses those who are worst hit by disasters - children. The book is written in an attractive manner, through animated communication with sketches. Appu, a playful baby elephant is portrayed as interacting with three school children who are on a vacation trip to their ancestral village home. This way of presenting knowledge is of course of proven effectiveness. The book is authored by a senior academic of the state who has led the Institute of Land and Disaster Management also the Institute of Climate Change Studies in Kerala. He is a person with passion to protect nature. His green heart can be seen in his earlier work, Arayaal Chillakal and Naattuvazhiyiloode.
